18thSeptember 2018: The Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA) will stage its 4th AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2018 on 24th October in Goyang City, Korea.

To-date, 14 participating teams who are students attending an accredited University or College within Asia will be competing at this prominent annual Asian MICE Youth Challenge organized by AFECA to inculcate innovative thinking and creativity for the MICE industry. These 14 teams are representing 8 countries/areas that consist of Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

This platform created 4 years ago, has since gained significant recognition from the regional education institutions as a relevant curriculum to motivate and develop their students in the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions industry in Asia. It is a platform for the future Asian MICE talents to outwit other participants by presenting their genius novel event and convince the judges why their country/area is THE BEST MICE destination in Asia!

The participating teams will conceptualize, business-test, and create a launch event in one of the components of MICE: M “Meetings”, I “Incentive Travel”, C “conference”, E “Exhibition”, and showcase the distinctive features and facilities of their country/area, to convince the judges why their destination is the BEST to host their created event. In addition, they will also be judged on creating the most attractive, effective and strategic business plan.

“The level of enthusiasm and standard of the teams will no doubt continue to amaze the audience”, said Ms Rosalind Ng, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee. I am also delighted that the educational institutions recognize this platform as one of the key activities to encourage innovative thinking and expose their students regionally, commented Ms Rosalind.

Mr Walter Yeh, President of AFECA also expressed his excitement for the competition. “The millennials are our future generation, who advocates diversity and inclusion. I am very excited to see this year’s students present their showmanship and creativity in this regional setting which allows our young MICE students to excel”, said Mr Yeh.

The winning team will receive a Champion trophy, certificate for each team member and US$1,500.
