The 37th TICA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Bangkok, Thailand—July 22nd, 2020, the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association(TICA) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Ballroom of the Centara Grand at Central-World. The meeting, which is a milestone event hosted every year to evaluate the association’sperformance and achievements, saw an impressive turnout with over 150 stakeholders in attendance, all of whom make up Thailand’s diverse MICE industry.

There were several standouts that set this year’s AGM apart from previous meetings. In addition
to an inspiring programme, the event was conducted in line with the Ministry of Health’s recom-
mended health and safety measures to safeguard all attendees, organisers as well as venue personnel.

From the moment participants entered the hotel to the time they departed, TICA and hotel sta
ensured that all the necessary precautions were in place from temperature screenings and hand sanitisation at all entrances and exits, to mask awareness, contactless registration via smart-phone, and social distanced seating in the event hall.

During the opening remarks for the AGM, TICA President, Sumate Sudasna, spoke eloquently regarding Thailand’s noteworthy response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is amongst the top in the world and number one in Asia. He continued his speech by stating that the business events industry should take their cue from this impressive accomplishment and maintain their condence and awareness regarding health and safety protocols moving forward.

The professionalism of this year’s AGM was a clear testament to the nation’s MICE industry and its capabilities for hosting largescale and specialised events in the new age of business post-COVID. The general consensus was that the meeting was a highly motivational event that took place at a time when the industry and its diverse stakeholders greatly needed it.
