30 October 2015, Asia: For the first time ever, 17 university student teams from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand will gather in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 12 November to pitch their Novel event and why their respective city/country is the ideal international platform for Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibition (MICE).
They will be participating in the AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2015, organised by the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA), the federation representing the MICE industry in Asia, with 28 MICE association members and 98 corporate members in 17 cities/countries.

"The debut AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2015 is an international challenge for all students majoring in MICE or Business Events, Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism related fields. We aim to provide an international platform for students in Asia to develop their creativity and present fresh and unique ideas for the MICE industry," said Mr Walter Yeh, the President of AFECA.

“We are excited that this debut AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2015 has generated strong interest among Asian institutions offering MICE courses,” said Ms. Dilys Yong Mee Hiong, Chairperson of the Organising Committee and Honorary President of AFECA. “ and we can’t wait to hear their ideas which will give us a glimpse of what the future holds for the MICE industry in Asia.”

The 17 four-member teams will have only six minutes to present and showcase their novel MICE event to the panel of judges. The Champion team will receive USD$3,000, a Champion trophy and certificates for the winning team members.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Asian regional MICE Federation. Several debut AFECA events will be held concurrently including AEC + Expo 2015, AFECA Awards and AFECA Forum at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia on 11 – 13 November 2015.
