AFECA held its 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on September 5th, 2017, the first time ever that AFECA has held its AGM in the southern Taiwanese city. Over 150 attendees, including AFECA Board members, Advisers, and representatives from various Corporate and Association members from 18 different nations/regions in Asia ascended to Southern Taiwan to receive updates on AFECA and its events, the latest trends in the industry, as well as networking and seek out potential cooperation opportunities. Representing the entire AFECA executive body, President Walter Yeh welcomed all delegates to Kaohsiung for the AGM and its series of events.

In addition, AFECA also held an AFECA-IAEE Joint Meeting immediately following the AGM. Both Walter Yeh and IAEE Chairperson-elect Daniel McKinnon provided further updates on their respective associations, and opened up new avenues for the Asian and American MICE markets to collaborate in the future. Also, CEO of Suntec City Singapore Arun Madhok gave a keynote speech on his exhibition facilities and operation strategies, igniting much interaction between the presenters and audience.

Since its establishment in 2005, AFECA has gradually grown into one of the more important MICE associations in Asia. Its membership roll has grown from 127 to 132 since the last AGM, and all members strive for the same goal of continuing to improve and further develop the Asian MICE industry.
